I'm bad at updating

Some new shots are coming; Lately I've been pretty bad at the keep producing (life is dragging me down). I've been applying around town for internship/apprentice positions, and hopefully something comes up from that. I did a couple weddings recently, and I have got to say, that I won't do a single one more. Like trying to corral a tornado. Other than that, nothing really new to report.

Is alive?

I'm still hear, I've been "working" on some projects lately, and by working, I mean sleeping all day, and sleeping all night. Or at least, I would be sleeping if it wasn't for this crazy patch of insomnia I've had for the past month. Sleep, I miss you.

My schedule is looking like it will lighten up, which will give me more time for art, and more time for job hunting.

Michael Jackson. Obvious, huh? The complete media saturation kinda reminded me that MJ kicked ass. Musically kicked ass. I didn't really care too much for his extra-curricular activities, but Smooth Criminal kicked ass.

Post CCAD

Now that I have graduated, I've been looking for both work and to stay busy. So far, things have been going pretty well. I've come to the realization that while I know all the ins and outs of Photoshop and Illustrator, I haven't really used them to their full capacity. So, over the past couple weeks I've been trying to work on making more complicated photomantages.

It is definitely easier said than done. But all the better work will definitely come up here.

Commencement

Okay, so I officially received my BFA today. A little scary, I don't really know where I'm going, but I know what I want to do, and I know how to do. Let's hope I get there along the journey. Congratulation to everyone who graduated with me.

This shot was taken for a friend of mine's thesis video. Its a cover shot (without the text added; I'll link to that, too.) I like the shot; but a few things could be better.

No More Classes

I'm writing this from the school labs, it'll be the last time I'm in here, and its kind of a sad feeling. But enough about that;

I'm going to be trying to produce a lot more now that I don't have anything else to do (other than grind awayfor pay checks). I don't have a proper light kit yet, so I'll be trying to buy one of those ASAP. Until then, I'm going to be turning into a street photographer.

On to today's peice;

A friend of mine had been bugging me about getting shots for her fashion thesis project, and despite my best efforts, I just couldn't ignore her anymore. Funny how I only ignore my friends. This shot was one of the shots from her final line, I believe the idea was Circus Couture. The shot went by really well, pretty quickly, and I learned how to try a corset! On a side note, I need some assistants.

Deadlines closing in.

Just coming out of class, and I figured I'd grace everyone (read; both of you) with a little update; This time with another portrait of the cool cool man named Lazarus. He is another aspiring actor out of Columbus, Ohio. The shoot went by really quickly, and turned out a pretty good set of shots. Most of which I still need to upload. My Last Spring Break

I like experimenting. Although, I'd call it playing more than anything.

Another aspiring actress from Columbus, OH, I had the pleasure of meeting Carina through my friend/roommate/film maker friend. I guess my name came up through conversation as someone who'd be able to do some headshots.

The shoot was a little rushed, I had just finished up another shoot, and wasn't really up for the next one, and Carina seemed a bit tired herself, but things went well, everyone had a good time, and we agreed to another shoot soon.

At my first glance through the shots, I wasn't thrilled. Nothing really jumped out at me, but after some tweaking, and some time away, I found this image. A little lomo later, and I think we have something.

Graduation

I'm going to graduate. From college. What the hell?

I'm still in a bit of shock, really, and dread. Not like when I graduated from high school, no this is different. I don't believe that I am ready, there is still so much I can, so much I should learn before I graduate. I feel like none of my instructors have looked at my work, that there should be some reason why I shouldn't be allowed to leave.

And that isn't the only thing; how the hell does one go about getting work? I mean, I know how, in a vague way, to make money, but I really don't know anything fiscal.

But, then again, I'm probably not the only person going through this.

Anyway, on to details about this shoot;
Nothing really exceptional happened at my most recent shoot. We had fun, took some photos, some turned out, some didn't, I haven't looked through most of them yet. The model began to get sick as the shoot went on (it was her first time in front of strobes), so we had to call it quits early.

Still, I'd say this shot was pretty worth it;

New Photo!

Every week, I'm going to try and upload a new image, so here is this weeks;

I haven't been shooting or filming much lately, there has been a lot on my plate. However, I have been hunting through old projects, and galleries to see if there were any photos or videos I either ignored (that had potential), or didn't know how to effectively edit them. This photo is one of those.

Marketing, branding and Other Corporate Jazz

After a hectic relocation process (which still isn't finished) I am finally able to sit down and re-refocus myself. I took a break from designing my business card, and decided to go for something a little more controlled. A little more focused. It isn't that the old design was bad, per say, it just felt more like a card for some sort of family entertainment company. More 04LazerTag! than 04Photography.

I want to redesign my logo, too. I like my current one, and it will probably still exist/be used in certain situations, but definitely not on a business card.

While in the process of redesigning my logo/card, I have been looking through my various projects, trying to find a reel in there somewhere. I know the work is good, but I think I am a little too hard on myself. If it isn't perfect, it feels like a failure to me. Perfection may be impossible, but its not fruitless to chase it.

First Post

This blog (and also o4photography) was created by COREY GODFREY. A competent, if a bit green, photographer/videographer out of small Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Currently attending Columbus College of Art and Design, he anticipates graduating in the Spring of 2009.

Alright, now that I have that out of my system, I plan on using this as a staging ground of sorts. This is a makeshift website (along with my deviantART and ModelMayhem accounts) until I have a website of my own running (read; one without .blogspot in the URL).

I'm working on my HTML and flashwork, I really am not too excited about the flash part, but its definitely a needed skill for websites anymore.
